Illusion Solution…

I’ve been asked this three times…. Here is the proof that the colour of square A and square B are in fact, the same. R120 G120 B120 or #787878;
Enjoy

No the center strip is NOT a gradient. This is a classical “Brain fills in the info” illusion. if you take two pieces of paper and line them up to either side of the grey strip, you’ll see that there is no gradient. However, your brain sees “shadow” and will lighten the B square to fit it’s perception of how things should look. Do it. Take two business cards, hold them with the white side facing you and line them up against the grey strip, one on each side so you can only see the grey strip. Now, move the right business card about 1-2mm to the left, not far enough to resolve the shadow. Poof, A and B will look the same colour because they ARE the same colour!
